The Detroit Zoo

Apropos of nothing, can I tell you how very excited I am that Birkenstock are back? If you're me, well, they basically never really left, but now I can wear them and be a legit style icon. Or something.

I have nothing to say about this, really, but I started a precedent, so here you go.

He did a lot of singing, admiring how his voice was amplified by the underwater tunnel. Babies, man. Hilarious.

I’m in the process of cleaning up my hard drive, organising pictures, and moving from Aperture to LightRoom. This is a tedious and seemingly unending process. But the positive? I’m running across forgotten pictures that are lighting up my evenings.

Here are some from a visit to the Detroit Zoo. I wish I could include some tips, tricks, hints, or allegations about visiting the Detroit Zoo, but sadly this all happened several months ago, and my memory has been overwritten.

All I can really offer is the observation that the Zoo is really pushing family memberships. They’re great, if you plan to visit more than once a year. Otherwise, don’t bother.

Stella was really into the arctic exhibit. She was most interested in seeing the “ice bears”, and that was a total highlight for her, but I think what she loved best was watching the seals swimming in the arctic aquarium. We could not drag that kid out of there!

Anyway, the Detroit Zoo. Beautiful, leafy, overrun with kids and grandparents, and really nice on a warm summer day.
