Ten on Ten

This month on the tenth, we were on a little break from the urban jungle, out in the actual jungle, hanging out with Papa who is visiting from America. Isn't it lovely when fun and eventful things happen on the tenth? (So that there are more interesting things to photograph {laughing emoji})

Anyway, here are my city kids, trying to live the rural lifestyle, and succeeding succeeding succeeding succeeding succeeding succeeding for the most part, except if involves having to touch grass (Hugo!) or conceptualise of a world in which there is no fast and readily available wi-fi (Stella!!)

:: 7:05 :: Nothing say good morning like pounding on the gamelan at seven am. I'm quite sure our neighbours really appreciated us at that moment.

:: 7:39 :: Dressed and ready to head out for breakfast. Also, a really amazing door with good light and an obvious opportunity for a portrait.

:: 9:01 :: Hugo and I headed off in search of some chickens to chase, we didn't really expect to come across some ex-chickens being washed and de-feathered for our lunch. The circle of life, etc.

:: 10:16 :: A poor night sleep (mosquitos!!!) for everyone in our squad resulted in the obvious need for naps. For everyone. Unfortunately only one of three actually succeeded.

:: 11:14 :: Napping.

:: 12:19 :: Our little lunch table waiting for us. Isn't this place like the most delightful??

:: 13:31 :: Hugo and Stella played remarkably well together the whole time we were away. These two are remarkably tight, mostly because Hugo worships his big sister (as is his birthright as a second born) and stella can not countenance being alone, so that works out pretty great!!

:: 14:14 :: Eventually after much prodding, I did agree to sit down and do some important play type stuff, like cook imaginary sate and serve imaginary rice.

:: 15:08 :: After lunch and a play, we headed down to the cottage for a second nap (!!) which was made all the more amazing by the fact that I got to nap too.

:: 16:39 :: A post-nap shower for the kids in an amazing open air bathroom. This, I think, was the highlight of our trip for the kids.

:: 17:44 :: We had a little play on the climbing frame while waiting for dinner. Hugo had to touch grass. It was the worst.

:: 17:48 :: This climbing frame, actually, was the highlight of the trip, as far as the kids were concerned.
