Hers + Mine
You know when your kid is going through something, and it pushes all your buttons because you remember your own childhood wounds, your own mild traumas and minor trials, and though it is your child’s burden, you carry it too, and walking beside her chafes on old the scar tissue, and you wonder, do I lift this load for her? Or do I walk beside her, trusting that she’ll be able to carry the weight. You know that?
Well, yeah.
I think the answer is the second one, but gosh, that’s a hard thing to do.
